Who is the course for?
Anyone using a “Powered Pole Pruner” to lop tree branches.
The course
1 day of training and assessment (ITA).
Short day for refresher or very experienced users (min. 3 years experience recommended)
Course Outline:

• Maintenance, starting & pre-use checks
• Practical demonstrations & safe use
• A safe working area, hazard analysis
• Emergency Planning
• Removing overhead limbs
• Storage & transport.
• Legislative issues
• Environmental Issues
• Pre-NPTC Assessment guidance
What should you bring to the course?
Full Personal Protective Equipment:
Chainsaw helmet (with mesh visor & ear defenders)
Chainsaw gloves, Steel toe-capped chainsaw work boots, Chainsaw trousers (Type C).
Powered Pole Pruner in good working order with plenty of wear left in the chain, with manual and spare chain. Tool kit to include sharpening equipment, knock-in vice, depth gauge, raker, plug spanner & screwdrivers. Fuel & Chain Oil.
Personal First Aid Kit (must include large wound dressing). Non-snag outer clothing
Please bring packed lunch and drinks for each day.
NPTC Assessment:
This is a newly introduced (June 2013) ITA – Integrated Training & Assessment course so the instructor can now assess candidates during the course. Please contact us for updated arrangements as you will need to pre-register for the assessments.

Certificate:
On successful completion of assessment – NPTC Certificate of Competence
Refresher Training is recommended about every 3 years.

All trainees must be over 16 years of age and be “physically fit”. Anyone under the age of 18 can only use a chainsaw under the supervision of a certificated operator. Persons with certain ailments or on certain medication may not be able to take part in the practical sessions
