(This is not a part of the course):
You will be given an application form for your test during the course and given advice and guidance on the application procedure. You will also be given feedback at the end of the training to help you prepare for your test.
The test comprises a separate practical assessment with questions (about 2 hours) and is arranged through one of the local NPTC test centres. Individuals normally arrange their own assessments direct with the test centre, but we can assist in this process if required. It is normal practice for students to apply once they have completed their training, this can give students time to practice or read up on their notes. It can also spread the cost a little as the assessments are quite expensive.
Some students prefer to go straight to their assessments within a few days of the course, if you want to do this the application form would need to be submitted to the NPTC test centre (with payment) in advance of the course and a date arranged. We can email you an application form that you can use for this – please ask.
You will need to provide a passport photo to NPTC with the test application.
Don’t forget that you will need to provide all your own equipment for the assessments
Assessment Schedule available at http://www.nptc.org.uk/qualificationschemes.aspx?id=3
On successful completion of assessment – NPTC Certificate of Competence

All trainees must be over 16 years of age and be “physically fit”. Anyone under the age of 18 can only use a chainsaw under the supervision of a certificated operator. Persons with certain ailments or on certain medication may not be able to take part in the practical sessions.
First Aid training is strongly recommended by the HSE.
