Anyone using a chainsaw wishing to fell trees over 380mm (15”) at felling height.
You must already have an NPTC CS30, CS31 & CS32(33) or 201,202 & 203 & 301 qualification, and have suitable and relevant experience.
3 days for less experienced users (less than 3 years experience).
1 day refresher for very experienced users (min. 5 years experience recommended).

What should you bring to the course?
Full Personal Protective Equipment: chainsaw helmet (with mesh visor & ear defenders)
chainsaw gloves, steel toe-capped chainsaw work boots, chainsaw trousers (Type C).
Non-snag outer clothing.
Chainsaw (maximum recommended guide bar length 380mm 15”, preferably over 40cc in good working order with the manual) Please make sure that the chain on the saw is serviceable, if in doubt bring a spare chain with the supplied box. Tool kit to include sharpening equipment, knock-in vice, depth gauge, raker, plug spanner & screwdrivers.
Fuel/2 stroke & chain oil. Felling Lever/Breaker Bar. Plastic Wedges.
Hand winch – tested and certificated. Strops – tested and certificated. Shackles – tested and certificated. High Lift Wedges. Sledge Hammer. Winch if available.
Personal First Aid Kit (must include large wound dressing).
Please bring packed lunch and drinks for each day and sufficient warm clothing & wet weather gear to allow for weather conditions. Sun protection is advised for those rare occasions that we see it – minimum recommended is SPF 15 but this can be higher depending on skin type.
Re-assessment is not required for refresher training.
Refresher Training is recommended about every 2 to 5 years.
