The Enhanced Learning Credit Scheme (ELC) provides financial support towards retraining to those leaving the armed forces. This ELCAS funding can be used to obtain Level 3+ qualifications. As an approved ELCAS provider, Lynher Training offer a range of Level 3 qualifications and courses.

All training takes place in Devon and Cornwall. Lynher Training can provide these packages to service leavers from anywhere in the UK who wish to come and stay in the area (accommodation is not provided). Level 3 City and Guilds Subsidiary Diploma in Forestry and Arboriculture (CODE – LYN-L3-60)
A City and Guilds Qualification covering 60 credits which can be chosen from a variety of courses including training for NPTC 201,202,203 – Chainsaw Maintenance, Cross-cutting and Felling to 380mm, Woodchipper, Woodland Management, Tree and Shrub Pruning, Tree Survey, Inspection and Legislation, Tree Pests and Diseases, Tree ID and Planting, Tree Planting and Aftercare, Tree and Plant Science. Advanced Candidates can also include NPTC unit 307 Aerial Pruning.

A Note on RPL Training

If during your Year1/CAN1 you complete the L3 Certificate for £1350; you can come back and complete the L3 Subsidiary Diploma in Year2/CAN2 for £1350 by using the RPL from your L3 Certificate. Simply get a booking form from us showing your learning plan and cost to present to your Resettlement Education Officer.

Similarly you can also come back to complete your 90-Credit Diploma for £1350 in Year 2/3 if you have completed the Subsidiary Diploma previously.

If using the Online Claim Wizard, adjust/notify your education officer of the adjustment to costs in Section 6.

Example 2 year Personal Development Plan for Tier 2 Candidate – Updated Jan 2022

There are several options available in building your Personal Development Plan depending on your funding tier so we advise that you talk with us about what you would like to achieve and we can establish if we can work elements into your plan. See below an example of a Tier 2 funded plan over two years including aerial climbing and saw use.

1st Claim

NOTE: Prerequisite Tree Climbing and Aerial Rescue (complete before taking F&AUnit 308, either with another training centre or with us at a cost of £710 for the full course and assessment, or £135 for the assessment only if trained elsewhere)

1FA30CRED – Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Forestry and Arboriculture £2700 excluding NPTC Assessments extra £485) – This is a set plan.

Unit 327 – Basic Chainsaw (NPTC 201,202,203)(excludes assessments=£310)

With this plan, at the end of CAN 2 you will achieve the Level 3 90-Credit Diploma in Forestry and Arboriculture.
