Bat Awareness for Treeworkers
For anyone working in the Land Based Sector, particularly tree workers, who may come into contact with bats or bat roosts, in the course of their work activities. All bats are protected by law.
Hand Held Hedgetrimmer
For anyone using a Petrol Powered and hand held hedgetrimmer for work purposes.
Pesticides including PA1, PA2, PA6
Anyone using, or purchasing, pesticides, herbicides or fungicides.
Pesticides – PA1 Refresher
It is recommended that anyone whose Pesticides training is more than 5 years old should undergo refresher training or anyone whose change of method or application or substances used or any change of major working practice should also undertake refresher training.
Powered Pole Pruners
Any person employed in arboriculture, forestry, horticulture, landscaping and grounds maintenance that is or will be required to operate powered pole pruners. The course is designed to prepare candidates for assessment for NPTC Certificate of Competence unit CS 48.
Strimmer/Brushcutter
For anyone using a Strimmer and/or Brushcutter for work or leisure.
Stumpgrinder
Anyone using a stumpgrinder for work purposes.
Tree Pests and Diseases
For anyone looking to gain knowledge about identifying, reporting and monitoring the presence of pests, diseases and disorders in trees. As well as the common types of pests, diseases, disorders and problems, and common types of biological controls and beneficial insects. Can be taken as a standalone course or as part of the City and Guilds Level 3 Forestry and Arboriculture Qualification.
Tree and Plant Science
For anyone looking to gain knowledge about basic tree botany and tree health. Can be taken as a standalone course or as part of the City and Guilds Level 3 Forestry and Arboriculture Subsidiary Diploma Qualification.
Lantra Basic Tree Inspection
This one day course is designed to introduce arboriculture to those who have limited knowledge of how a tree functions and reacts to external pressures leading to a fuller understanding of the signs and symptoms that a tree presents so that a competent inspection may be carried out. Candidates will develop an initial knowledge base that will form the basis of further reading, understanding and maybe, further formal qualifications.
Lantra Professional Tree Inspection
This is a course for experienced arboriculturalists with an in depth knowledge of tree science, tree health and tree ID and at least 5 years experience of tree survey and inspection.
Tree Survey and Inspection (optional City&Guilds)
This three day course is designed to introduce arboriculture to those who have limited knowledge of how a tree functions and reacts to external pressures leading to a fuller understanding of the signs and symptoms that a tree presents so that a competent inspection may be carried out. Can be taken as a standalone course or as part of the City and Guilds Level 3 Forestry and Arboriculture Qualification.
Tree Planting
For anyone wishing to increase their knowledge and improve their techniques of Tree Planting.
Tree Species Recognition & Identification
For anyone interested in learning more about trees – Almost entirely outdoors; most of the day will be spent looking at trees.
Utility Arboriculture – UA1 Foundation Module
This is a two day classroom based course, with an assessment to follow at a time to be agreed. On successful completion, you will achieve an NPTC Certificate of Competence. If you are employed in Utility Arboriculture or work closely to overhead conductors of up to 400kv, this course is a must.
Utility Arboriculture – UA2.1, 2.2 & 2.3 Modules
For anyone employed in Utility Arboriculture or working closely to overhead conductors of up to 400kv. On successful completion, you will achieve an NPTC Certificate of Competence.
Utility Arboriculture – Surveyor – UA5 Module
For anyone employed in Utility Arboriculture; covers the survey of a power line requiring tree-work and producing the appropriate instructions. On successful completion, you will achieve an NPTC Certificate of Competence.
Woodchipper
For anyone using a Woodchipper for work purposes, either mounted, trailed or tracked.
Woodland Management
For anyone interested in the basic skills involved in Woodland Management techniques. Can be completed as part of the City and Guilds Level 3 Forestry and Arboriculture Qualification.
Strained Wire Fencing
Anyone interested in learning the basic skills involved in strained wire stock fencing techniques.
Practical Hedge laying – Live Hedge laying
Anyone interested in learning the basic skills involved in laying live hedging – also known as “Steeping” techniques.
Tree & Shrub Pruning
Anyone interested in learning the basic skills involved in pruning trees and shrubs.
Fruit Tree Pruning
Anyone interested in learning the basic skills involved in pruning fruit trees.
Stonewalling Techniques
Anyone interested in learning additional stonewalling techniques. Suitable for people who have completed a basic stonewalling course or have some experience.
